- Huawei P50 Pocket Set to Release This December
Huawei’s next foldable phone is coming to the stores in just a few days.
After much speculation, a few leaks, and some outrageous rumors, we’ve finally got our first look at Huawei P50 Pocket as well as its release date - December 23. Promotional shots, alongside the phone’s release date, were revealed by Huawei over at the Weibo social network. This follows a previous teaser on Twitter when Huawei said it’ll be a “compact yet powerful” device.
The phone, originally expected to be called Mate V, will sport a clamshell design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z and, when folded, will be small enough to fit your pocket. It will have a textured back with an intricate diamond-shaped pattern, surrounded by a metallic silver frame. Customers will have a choice of two colors - white and gold. As announced by Huawei, this phone will be the manufacturer’s winter flagship model.
When it comes to the Huawei P50 Pocket specs, nothing’s set in stone yet. According to some insiders, there will be two variations - one for the Chinese and another for the global market. The Chinese version of the phone will be equipped with a Kirin 9000 processor and 4G capabilities. The international version, on the other hand, will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC CPU. Both models will have a 6.7-inch screen and a hinge-based folding mechanism. These specs don’t sound too unrealistic considering Huawei launched the P50 series earlier this year, sporting similar internals.
On the same day as the launch of the Huawei P50 Pocket, the Chinese manufacturer is set to release another device, although not a smartphone. It will be the Huawei Watch D, a wearable piece of tech ideal for fitness fans. This smartwatch will be the first Huawei wearable with an integrated blood pressure monitor.
The price of the P50 Pocket smartphone has yet to be revealed. Its non-foldable cousin retails for $899, while the P50 Pro is slightly more expensive and costs $1,194.99.
