The List of Best Selling Games on Steam in 2021 Is Here

Valve Corporation, the owner of the biggest PC gaming digital distribution site, Steam, has revealed the best-selling games in 2021. This time, Valve organized the list into several categories: best-selling games, best new releases, most played games, top-selling early access titles, highest-grossing VR games and best games for computer controllers on PC.

Games released this year like Battlefield 2042, Naraka: Bladepoint, Valheim, and New World topped the Platinum category in the Top Sellers list. There were a couple of older releases in this category, such as Destiny 2, Apex Legends, CS: GO, Rainbow Six Siege, and Dead by Deadlight. The Top Sellers list included titles with the highest revenue from the game, DLC, and microtransaction sales between Jan 1, 2021, and Dec 15, 2021.

Games like Back 4 Blood, Age of Empires IV, Halo Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5 got into the highest Platinum category in the New Releases category. Top Early Access Graduates includes games that started in the beta phase of development and launched in 2021. This also had plenty of high-grossing titles such as Subnautica: Below Zero, Solasta: Crown of the Magister, GTFO, Wildermyth, and Hell Let Loose.

Most Played Games list included titles with the highest number of players throughout 2021. DOTA 2, GTA V, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and Cyberpunk 2077 had over 200,000 peak players, the most significant number of gamers in 2021.

Valve has also showcased the Best VR and Top Controller games in the highest-selling lists. Virtual Reality titles such as The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, BONEWORKS, Superhot VR, and Half-Life: Alyx had the most copies sold. Games that Steam deems best played on controllers and sold the most were Tales of Arise, eFootball 2022™, FIFA 22, Monster Hunter: World, and Guilty Gear: Strive.
