Overview

EaseUS is a Chinese software company founded in 2004. It provides backup, disk management, and data recovery software to millions of macOS and Windows users across the globe. The crown jewels of EaseUS software are its Data Recovery Wizard, Todo Backup, and Partition Master.

Since these three software offers cover a wide variety of common file-recovery-related issues, we’ve made them the focus of our review. We’ll be sure to mention some of the company’s other products, especially the ones that work well with these three to recover lost or deleted data on consumer electronics.

EaseUS Data Recovery Review

easeus ui

Once you’ve downloaded the right data recovery app for your operating system from the EaseUS website and started it up, the first thing you'll notice about EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is that it’s really fast. As soon as you decide which hard disk, SSD, or specific folder you want to scan for lost data, it starts a quick scan of the storage device and begins listing recoverable files. After it’s done, it automatically switches to advanced scanning.

You can pause the file scans at any time or go through the discovered data while they are in progress. “Filter” and “Tags” options are at your disposal in case you’re looking for specific files. Before running the EaseUS data recovery software on your lost files, you can preview them to ensure the data hasn’t been overwritten or damaged beyond repair.

Unlike many other data recovery programs, the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard can locate and restore more than a thousand lost file types. These include documents, graphics, emails, videos, and audio files. It’s able to recover them even from accidentally deleted, hidden, lost, or raw partitions.

EaseUS has versions of Data Recovery Wizard (and Data Recovery Wizard Pro) for both macOS and Windows users - plus mobile recovery software versions we’ll discuss later.

One of the major concerns about data recovery software is that saving one recovered file might make other lost data impossible to recover - or, worse, that it might overwrite current versions of important files with partially garbled older data. That’s simply not an issue with EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. You don’t need to worry about the software overwriting valuable data while recovering lost files.

This data recovery tool isn’t perfect, even in its full version (Data Recovery Wizard Pro). Still, it’s pretty easy to see why it’s so frequently found at the top of the best data recovery software charts. Although it might not be able to fulfill its boast that it can recover 99.7% of your lost data, in most cases, it will come pretty close.

The only downside is that the free version is limited to 2 GB of recovered data files. That’s barely enough to cover a single old USB drive, let alone a whole hard disk, or several lost partitions. To get unlimited data recovery, you must upgrade to the Data Recovery Wizard Pro or Technician version. These also include benefits like one-on-one remote data recovery assistance and multi-user licenses.

EaseUS Todo Backup Review

easeus backup

In an ideal world, you’d never need data recovery software because you could simply transfer files and recover lost data from a current backup. That’s what EaseUS’s Todo Backup software is for. It lets you back up all the files, partitions, and hard drives you want; you can even back up your entire operating system to guard against a system crash or virus attacks! The program is designed to cater to your specific preferences. You can customize the following:

  • Schedule: Your backup can be time or event-based.
  • Method: Choose from full, incremental, and differential backup options.
  • Location: Store your backups on local hard disks, external devices, network shared locations, or cloud storage.

If all of this seems like more of a hassle than a convenience, you might find the EaseUS Smart Backup feature more appealing. Smart Backup checks your data every 30 minutes and backs up everything on the file list that’s changed. Therefore, any deleted files from the Recycle Bin can be easily recovered in less than a minute, even if you didn’t remember to copy them yourself. The only problem with this feature is that it’s not available with the free version of Todo Backup. Like file and system cloning, exclusion of other files, and event-based backups, it’s available only with a paid license.

All in all, this is a nice program that becomes an excellent one when upgraded, although you won’t find any free upgrades. It got bonus points for letting you encrypt your backups and being available for both Windows and macOS systems. You’ll never have to worry about where you’ll recover data or accidentally deleted files from!

EaseUS Partition Master Review

easeus partition master

Not everyone who owns a computer knows how to manage partitions. Fortunately, EaseUS’s developers kept inexperienced PC users in mind when creating Partition Master. All the commands in the user interface are clearly labeled, and you get to preview changes before applying them. These include resizing, merging, cloning, deleting, formatting, or wiping your partitions.

We’re happy to report that the free version of the program performs every one of those tasks. What we like most about the paid editions is that they support disks of unlimited capacity and have a wizard for copying whole operating systems to a new HDD or SSD, not just individual files.

However, it’s a shame that such a good utility only works on one operating system (Windows) and doesn’t have an EaseUS macOS version. In our opinion, since EaseUS has shown dedication to giving all of its users quality software regardless of their platform inclinations, there could well be a Partition Master for Mac users in the near future.

User Experience

The EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, Todo Backup, and Partition Master do not require a high level of skill or knowledge to save deleted files, back up your entire file list, or manage your data by partition. The user interfaces could be a bit sleeker to better complement the tools’ power, but perhaps the designers didn’t want to risk overcomplicating things and sacrificing users who couldn’t figure out how to recover files and thus had some of their data lost forever.

Online EaseUS reviews from customers only serve to confirm our assessment of the company’s efficiency in resolving data recovery issues through consultation with the customer support team or a search of the EaseUS website’s technical articles and guides on how to deal with deleted or corrupted files.

Most of these reviews focused on the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, and although we haven’t had any issues with its capacity to restore deleted files and data, we can understand why some users find it complicated. A couple of guidelines or a different organization scheme would benefit an absolute beginner’s data recovery experience.

The funny thing is that EaseUS already has a navigation panel similar to what we’re describing. It’s part of the EaseUS MobiSaver app for Android and iOS.

You can even install MobiSaver on your PC or Mac to recover files on your mobile device. The program doesn’t do as much as the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, but its straightforward design is an excellent example of how data file retrieval can be simplified.

For backing up and managing all your files, Todo Backup and Partition Master are available in Enterprise editions. Like the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Technician package, the Enterprise editions are business solutions. One advantage of the business solutions is that they can help you manage data and recover files on servers as well as workstations.

Though we were focused on its data recovery and file safety options, our appraisal of EaseUS would not be complete without a quick look at a few EaseUS products that you might not be familiar with. These products are often sold as part of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard utility bundles:

  • PCTrans
  • Disk Copy
  • Video Editor
  • Rec Expert
  • MobiMover

PCTrans

This transfer tool can help you move your files, applications, and settings from one computer to another. The data transfers can be done from PC to PC by installing PCTrans on both of them. Then this EaseUS PC transfer aid simply exports files, applications, and settings from your source to your desired destination. It’s a great time-saver when you’re setting up a new PC or laptop or when you’re configuring PCs for employees.

Disk Copy

The Disk Copy utility is very easy to use. You just select the source and target disks, and you’re good to go. If you’re the kind of person who likes a little more control, you’ll appreciate the option that lets you edit the disk layout.

Video Editor

Video Editor is one of the latest additions to the EaseUS repertoire. Its eye-catching design and myriad functions are definitely its main selling points, not to mention its support for a wide variety of file types. The undecided can avail themselves of the EaseUS free trial offer.

Rec Expert

Rec Expert is another newcomer. This screen-recording software has a lot more features and options than we are accustomed to seeing in screen recorders. It’s still new, so it hasn’t attracted much of a user base yet.

MobiMover

If you’re an iPhone user, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of MobiMover. This data transfer and management utility is fully compatible with all iOS devices. The most interesting features are its two slightly out-of-place functions – the video downloader and adapter. EaseUS MobiMover can help you download video files and translate them to a supported file type.

Customer Support

EaseUS customer support representatives are quick to respond and will not give up until they’ve solved your data recovery problem. The only problem is that paying customers have exclusive rights to professional technical support. You can choose from three contact methods: email, live chat, and phone.

The company says email response times never exceed 20 hours. We’ve never had to wait even half that long. There are separate email addresses for questions about:

  • EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard and its related issues
  • Partition management and file backup products
  • Pre-sales information

EaseUS support is available on live chat from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. That’s local time in Sichuan, China: UTC + 8. Telephone support is available from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. in the same time zone. Only paying customers get answers to questions related to technical issues when trying to recover data.

Before contacting anyone, it’s worth taking a few minutes to see if the information you seek can be found among the helpful video tutorials on the EaseUS customer support page.

There’s also the enterprise solution - EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Technician - whose subscription starts at $299 for one year and includes everything from the Pro version of EaseUS data recovery, but allows for multiple licenses. When viewed out of context, some of these prices might seem a bit steep. But given everything we’ve described in this EaseUS data recovery overview, we believe most of them are more than justified.

The products are sold according to different license periods. EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro sells for $69.95 per month or $99.95 per year. Todo Backup costs $29.95 per year. And you can purchase a copy of Partition Master for $39.95.

The free and free trial versions are like shop windows: You can look all you want, but you can’t actually do much aside from admiring the display. That’s not to say that the free versions are useless. They are indeed useful, if only to a very limited extent (think one big recovered file or several small ones). The real capabilities of these products are reserved for paying users, and there’s no getting around it.

If you’re dissatisfied with your purchase, you’re entitled to an EaseUS refund. Your request for a refund will not be honored if you submit it after the 30 days covered by the guarantee.

Conclusion

No EaseUS software review can cover every single detail. We’ve tried to outline the most relevant topics and information. Our conclusion is that EaseUS has your back when it comes to any kind of data safekeeping needs. Whether you want to organize, secure, or recover it, we recommend you turn to EaseUS for answers.

The EaseUS programs aren’t perfect - but what is? The key factor of this company’s success is that it continues working on its products, revising and improving them to meet more needs for more users. EaseUS data solutions are miles ahead of equivalent utilities from the company’s competitors, and that’s because EaseUS is never quite done adding the final tweaks.
