Update: I had an issue with the scooter where it died mid cruising. After several attempts to solve the problem with Unagi support they decided to send me another one. Amazing staff and helpful. The scooter arrived much earlier than expected. It was well packaged and secured. I ordered the blue and it was perfect. After the very easy assembly which was just four screws when installing the bar/computer. First, let me say, this is my first time riding a scooter and it was pretty easy. It is very sturdy and pretty fast. I charged it for four hours out of the box and read the instructions. It got me up to 17 miles per hour (but I heard you can get it to 20 with some secret override) The battery life on my first test run lasted only 9 miles out. When the red light on the battery comes on, it means you only have one bar left and it's best to head back home. I like that it has three different speed levels up to 10, up to 13 and up to maybe 15-16. I like the easy brake that's on the left and safety brake that you can place your back foot if it fails which it probably won't. It has a rear red light that is always on and I think it contributes to the life of the battery. It also has a little headlight that you can turn on and off.I also like that the tires are pop-proof but it does make for a rough ride on bumps. Driving it for 9 miles I got a good work out to my core. These are the pros so far. I should mention there were a lot of stops and go so it could have contributed to the short life-span of the battery. I also like it's folding capability if I want to drive to a trail, I can just throw it in my trunk and off I go. The scooter got a lot of compliments from my neighbors as they were highly impressed by its sleek design if you are into that. So far I have nothing negative to say, not even a "but". For a first time rider, I am pretty impressed. Well done.

I bought this scooter primarily to allow me to more quickly cover a walk of between two and three miles each day at work with much less fatigue, and it has done that well.
This walk involves many stops and starts, varying grades up and down, lots of turns, and variations of speed, so I'm probably using my E500 a bit harder than many average users riding theirs for commuter purposes would do.
First, I have to say that even the packaging for the scooter is top notch, with ample padding for the main body of the scooter contained in one part of the box, and the handlebar assembly contained in another heavily padded box on top of the main body.
Even the screws are individually retained in recesses in the foam packing inside the box for the handlebars, and there's even a very high quality t-handle Allen wrench included in the box in its own recess to install the screws, and there are even two spare screws.
It's also worth mentioning that each of the screws already has a little dab of the blue Loctite on the threads to ensure that they won't accidentally back out, so another thumbs up there for the extra attention to detail.
I can say that this scooter has enough battery power to get through between five and six miles total before I take it back to recharge, and I'm a big guy (6'4"/265 lbs), so I'm entirely satisfied with its performance.
As its designers intended as probably its main virtue, it's very light and as easy to fold and unfold as anyone could ever ask, and it is nicely balanced once folded, making it very easy for even a person of average or below average strength to carry it up and down a few flights of stairs.
I also really like the LED headlight, which makes visibility at night very easy and safe.
One thing that I have particular praise for is the electronic braking system, which has a type of anti-lock feature built into it, making quick stops easy and without fear of losing control.
One other thing that should be commented on about the electronic brake is that it works noticeably better when riding the scooter in dual motor mode over single motor mode because both wheels engage their brakes simultaneously in that mode.
Regarding the unique airless tires, I have to go against the tide of people who gripe about it riding a bit rough because of that, because I like the idea of not having to worry about leaks and because this is a scooter intended for relatively smooth surfaces, not for off-roading.
I have another scooter, the Swagtron Swagger 5, and it has a different type of airless tire, and the Unagi has almost identical ridign characteristics, but with a bit more stability in favor of the Unagi.
Also, I disagree with some of the gripes by people about this being a kickstart scooter because I prefer having the scooter only take off with a gentle push off the ground over using the accelerator only, all the better to avoid having the scooter drive itself unexpectedly out from under me.
I really like the riding deck, with its grippy silicone surface and because it's large enough for my size 12 feet to easily find a comfortable place to position while riding.
I also really like the accelerator control, and the scooter accelerates very strongly, but with a smooth curve to make starts quick without being jerky.
I go up several ramped surfaces, and this scooter climbs right up those without hesitation, another virtue of the dual motors.
It also runs rather quietly, with just a low hum from the motors even in full power mode.
The only real shortcoming I can think of with this scooter is the lack of cruise control, which seems like a strange omission on the part of Unagi, and I even contacted them with that as a suggestion for them to add to the firmware of newly built scooters; and I also suggested that many existing customers would probably agree to a modest fee to have their firmware upgraded by sending in the handlebar assembly (the part of the scooter that contains the controller and firmware) for Unagi.
The lack of cruise control is by no means a deal breaker, but it would be a nice little feature to improve rider comfort on longer trips.
I really like the E500, and I will be using it for years to come.

I have a disability that prevents me from driving, so I'm forced to take public transportation. I have an electric bike, and two electric scooters. The other scooter is bigger, wider, better range, pneumatic tires, weighs 50 lbs, and is just a little awkward on the public bus. So I spent the $$$ and bought this unit. The first one was defective and I returned it no issues and bought a replacement. Amazon's site wouldn't let me do the exchange, so I just returned, purchased again. The 2nd one has been perfect and I've ridden it over 100 miles already. It folds very easy, is light weight, and is perfect for that "last mile" to/from the bus. It easily fits in Lyft/Uber rides as well. The larger one does this too, but it's awkward, and the couple inches in each direction really makes a difference.
I do wish they had a pneumatic tire option though, that would be my only complaint. Have two tire choices. You do feel every bump in the road. Still worth it for the compact size / lightweight. The lights are very bright. The battery is sufficient for my needs, and let's face it more range = heavier scooter, so the trade off is perfect. Even if I forget to charge it one day it'll suffice for the next before running out.
If you want a longer distance scooter, I'd say get something with pneumatic tires, but if you want something to carry on public transit, this is the scooter for y ou. I'm 5'10" 205 lbs, 52 years old. Of the 2 scooters and bike, I ride this one 90% of the time.

I sent back the Segway E45 to try this one. What a difference. Less range, but lighter and easier to fold up and carry. Handles bumps /uneven pavement much better than expected for solid rubber tires. Has a slight flex to it in the steering column which ends up being somewhat of a shock absorber. It’s not as stiff/jarring on you arms.
Needed improvements would be black rubber instead of the light grey. It looks dirty all the time. Also Apple would never have left the wires exposed so much on the front wheel. Handlebars should fold inward when carrying. A little more illumination options for night riding would be great.

I was hoping this would be super speedy. I average 10-12mph normally. Never over 13mph ever. I’m about 250, so I was happy the motor has dual 250W engines.
Bottom line the bike looks great. Super easy to use. I find myself zipping around at night because it’s just so relaxing.
While I almost returned it for a faster scooter. But they as you’ll find out, where does that end
At $4500 you have a pretty speedy scooter but why just buy a used Vespa or motorcycle. My decision was I was something to have fun zipping around and that could collapse to fit into the pool private planes I fly. This met both.
I’d buy it again, almost no setup which is nice. But if you really need power buy a used motorcycle.
UPDATE: I found the crack code and now the scooter does 19mph! The battery is pulled down quickly but it still gets me about 2-3 miles around my community which is all that I was looking for. I think at this price it's about as good as you're going to get. I upgraded this review to 5 star!
I got this scooter to zip to the community club house.

1. day of testing, have to say it's pure joy, slick, modern and about 8 miles of juice makes this scooter one of the best scooter I have ever tried.
