- INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY – The unique combination of white light technology and the laser triangulation allow the SOL 3D scanner to reach a resolution of 0.1 mm with texture feature. The camera picks up the texture, the laser collects its geometry. The turntable can support a maximum weight of 4.4 lbs (2 Kg). The Close-up and Oversize scanning modes allow you to obtain very fine detailed scans. Objects 25-170 mm in diameter and 30-170 mm tall (1-6.7 inches in diameter, 1.2-6.7 inches tall).
- USER-FRIENDLY – The SOL 3D scanner provides an affordable, easy-to-use solution for creating digital copies of real-world objects. With only four pieces that attach with thumb screws, getting the SOL Scanner setup is a breeze. The calibration is fast and automatic, the software is easy to manipulate and there is no need to manually mesh alignments. Whether you are a maker, designer, educator or hobbyist, you can turn your ideas into reality with SOL.
- SEAMLESS – We continue to strive for perfection and work tirelessly to make the entire process seamless. The Scan Dimension engineering team focused on developing an incredibly easy-to-use scanner. To start a scan, users simply place an object on a turntable, place it within the included tent, and press a button — the laser, camera, and software do the rest. You can rescan your object from different angles to make sure all the geometry and texture is collected and the software will mesh it.
- EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE INNOVATION – Scan Dimension is a division of the scanning heavyweight, Global Scanning, a Danish-based technology firm with about 30 years of experience in the image-capturing sector. This collective experience is behind the engineering of SOL, which was designed to be, above all, portable, affordable, easy to use, and precise.
- PACKAGE INCLUDES – 3D Scanner, Turntable, Scanner Stand, Black-out tent w/enclosure, USB Cables, Cover and Scan Target

How do I 3D print the scans?
If you have a 3D printer you simply save your 3D scan as a file and import it into your 3D printer for printing.
Can everything be scanned?
Most things, but some surfaces need help. Like most 3D scanners SOL is not able to detect transparent, shiny, or dark surfaces. This can however be solved by spraying the object with 3D developer spray before scanning.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

My only complaints are that it takes about 25 minutes (plus a few minutes for calibration) per scan. Also, there are no ways to save a partial scan and resume it later (for multiple scans). The software works well and does all the necessary functions to make a scan, but is a little too basic for my taste. I would like more visibility or control over the intermediary processes of scanning objects.
I’m very happy with the purchase and look forward to using it more in the future and will be considering upgrading to the pro version when it is time for me to do that.

Now for the review:
I was able to scan an original figure and this scanner was able to pick up a lot of detail, and at this price I was expecting to get a low resolution model out of the scan but I was able to scan my figure in 5 different orientations. I know that sounds like over kill. But there were some areas that needed to be placed in such a way that I could get the undercut areas scanned. But I was able to get a high quality scan that is accurate to the original and easy to import into my modeling software. Now I did try scanning several different objects at different sizes, shapes, and colors and this is what I found after all those scans
Pros:
Cheap and easy to assemble
Produces high density water tight meshes in its own software so no having to import to mesh mixer and make water tight
Easy to operate
Small foot print
Cheaper than other 3D scanners on the market
Cons:
Has trouble scanning white and black objects. If you can paint both to be a grayish White than the scanner will be able to pick it up easy
The scanner is a little wobbly so be careful when scanning so you don’t accidentally bump the table that it is sitting on
Only does 10 steps for a full 360 rotation, having the option to increase the step count would have been handy, but sadly it does not
Has a hard time scanning sharp edged objects. Always rounds the edges.
So if you are looking for a budget scanner than I would highly recommend this scanner, but I wouldn’t suggest it if you are looking to copy technical parts.
Did my first scan an hour after I started setting up. The pictures are my first scan.
The editor software includes a “simplify” function that allows the scans to be loaded into Tinkercad with no noticeable loss of detail (printed model came from simplified model, loaded into Tinkercad and then exported into Cura slicer (model is 43mm tall)). Simplify function can also be used for scans from other systems.
Not all scans come out a good as my first one. Quality of scan seem extremely dependent on optical qualities of the subject. It’s not perfect, your milage may vary, some things are just unscalable. Opaque plastic, cardboard and mat finishes work best. I haven’t had much luck with bare metal or chrome (not even after covering it with foot powder.
I like the scanner; I’m keeping it even though it cost twice as much as my printer. It works far better than I had feared before I ordered it and sometimes better than I dare hope. and it’s the perfect companion to my 3D printer and I’m having way better luck with it than photogrammetry.

Es ist inakzeptabel, dass bei Verkauf durch Amazon.de die Rücksendung für den Käufer mit hohen Kosten verbunden ist, obendrein für ein offensichtlich defektes Gerät. Mein Fazit: Hände weg!
