Fingerprint Security
Keep your private files secure without sacrificing convenience. The built-in security options on the T7 Touch utilize AES 256-bit encryption and give you the option of unlocking with a touch of your finger or with a password.
Blazing fast storage
Transfer massive files in seconds with the incredible speed of USB 3.2 Gen 2 on the T7 Touch. With read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, the T7 Touch is 9.5x faster than an external hard disk drive** (HDD) and twice as fast as the T5***.
LED status indicator
The T7 Touch features an LED square that illuminates to keep you informed of what your SSD is doing at a glance. The LED lights turn on and off and rotates during data transfers.
Built strong
Unlike HDDs, the T7 Touch SSD has no moving parts so it's more resistant to shock. Plus, its solid aluminum unibody construction adds further protection, keeping your data safe from falls of up to 6 ft****.
Sleek and compact style
Roughly the size of a credit card and only weighing 2 ounces, the T7 Touch fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and is light enough to take your files on the go. Choose from classic black or stylish silver.
Simple setup
T7 Touch comes embedded with software to help you set up a password and fingerprints†. Get the latest firmware updates from your PC, Mac, or Android mobile devices. You can also download the mobile app for Android smartphones and tablets††.
Samsung Flash Memory
Since 2002‡ Samsung has been providing superior performance and reliability for flash memory. All firmware and components, including Samsung's world-renowned DRAM and NAND, are produced in-house, allowing end-to-end integration for quality you can trust.

The cables provided are junk. They just didn’t work at all. I tried using a cable I had from another drive I had and VIOLA! It worked. As for the function of the drive; It seems fast and I like the security feature. The compact size is great. I’ve loaded a ton of video footage on it and I’m surprised at how fast the drive is. I linked to the drive as a file source as I was editing videos and it worked well. I’ve done this with other drives in the past and they’re very laggy and can crash. I have yet to log any serious time with this but so far so good. Only one minor incident… it disappeared from my computer directory once. Had to unplug it and plug it in again to get it back. Works fine between my windows desktop and my ipad. Just what I need. Hope it holds up, we’ll see.
You can also use a password to access the drive, but the password can only be entered through a PC app. The password is also limited to 16 characters, and you can't reset it without entering the current password. So if you forgot the password, there's no way to change it. You also can't turn off encryption or remove saved fingerprints without knowing the password. It makes no sense that I can't change the password using the biometric scanner! I hope that Samsung is able to address this issue.
Keeping that in mind, though, I recommend the Samsung T7 as a portable SSD with relatively high security.
The difference is formatting the drive as brand new and removing the security feature for full access use in the video production world. One can purchase a 5 foot Type C to Type C USB cable, slip the drive in a pocket, and connect directly to a phone/camera for continuous 2 hour recording in the field. Professionals mount it to a rig for the professional look so customers don't question abilities of performing the job.
No need for additional images of videos for the review. Most wouldn't know the difference by just looking at. Would have to be a full support tech to know the solution. In which after 20 years of support, it is clear the challenges are deriving from the users.

Unsigned packages are not difficult to get notarized by Apple, but Samsung skipped this step hence the 'big deal'
Samsung T7 SSD drives now are, so much so even Samsung's own website have a specific article explaining how to 'disable' MacOS kernel protections.
No thanks.
A popular attack vector and the reason Apple now blocks this type of behavior in Big Sur.
One day, lets hope Samsung will be less shady with regard to it's practices because they make great hardware!
It is a good storage for 1tb of data.
