Sony has, somewhat prematurely, announced an action-packed August for all the PlayStation Plus subscribers.
In a post published a few days earlier than usual on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed the August line-up of free PS Plus games. Once again, subscribers will get three games, and the selection includes Hunter’s Arena: Legends, Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, and Tennis World Tour 2. The post was taken down in the meantime, but not before the fans could get their hands on the juicy information. We know these freebies will launch on the service on August 3 and that Hunter’s Arena will be on PS5 only, while the other two will be the older PS4 editions. The news is somewhat surprising, knowing that Hunter’s Arena was on PS4, too, so we’ll have to wait and see if Sony goes through with it.
As usual, at least one of the games is a multiplayer title, so you won’t be subscribing to PS Plus just to grab free stuff. Hunter’s Arena: Legends is a battle royale game where 30 players drop into a fantasy world inspired by Asian myths and legends. You’ll be wielding swords, staves and imbuing your character with magic while trying to stay alive and, ultimately, win the title of the deadliest assassin. The game’s already on PC with a $19.99 price tag, but it’s launching on Playstation consoles as a PS Plus exclusive, so the servers will be crowded from day one.
Another multiplayer title is the latest Plants vs Zombies spin-off, where you’ll be picking a side between one of the two titular warring factions and shooting your way through the opposition. You’ll also want to power up your setup with the best wireless router as this is a high-paced third-person shooter where every millisecond counts. The game usually retails for $29.99, so it’s a nice freebie for PS Plus subscribers.
Last but not least is the tennis simulation Tennis World Tour 2. Step onto the court as Federer, Nadal, and dozens of other tennis superstars. You can hop in the career mode, play against your friends on the same console, or take the game online. Granted, this game didn’t exactly get glowing reviews on release, but its developers have been improving it ever since.
While you’re waiting for this new batch of games to drop, be sure to grab July’s games, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
