I wanted to wait to post a review until we had used the dehumidifier for several months. It has now been approximately 3 months and 2 weeks since we turned the unit on and have been using it almost daily due to the humid conditions we have here in this part of Pennsylvania. On average, I have to empty the bucket twice a day but sometimes get away with only once if the humidity happens to be down for a day or so.
Our seven year old unit from another manufacturer was giving us issues last year and continued to do so this past Spring. We could not afford to allow the humidity in our basement get too high for a long period of time or end up having mold issues. I did research various places online and in consumer reports. My previous brand was their top recommendation but Midea was their number two. I had never heard of Midea before and continued doing more research and read many reviews. My previous brand was out of stock and Midea was a bit less in price so I ordered it.
Immediately upon receiving the unit, I read the instructions, plugged it in and set it to run continuously on Turbo mode. I was pleased with how quiet it was compared to our old unit and it continues to run quietly. The air filter is much easier to clean than my previously used brand and it provides you with a notification light when it is time to clean. I have also noticed that despite running this new unit as heavily as past seasons, our electric bill has lower. The bills so far are almost a $5-$7 less per month than past years.
Only two very minor items and I do mean minor, the first is the bucket has to be lined up exactly or it will not go back into the body of the unit. I learned the two rails on the bottom of the unit are to help assist in doing that so that minor issue was of my own doing. The second is the humidity guage. I have had an electronic humidity indicator in our basement for many years now and the one built into the dehumidifier never seemed to match my guage. I re-read the instructions manual and found that the built in guage could be plus/minus 5 or more. This was the exact amount of difference between the two so be sure to read and re-read the instruction manual to learn everything before jumping to any conclusions.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the decision to purchase this model and brand and give it my highest recommendation.

Highly effective and great capacity, but good luck removing the air filters.

This is a review of the 50-pint cube model which is new for 2021. It's replacing an older GE unit which had trouble keeping up with the humidity in my basement. The Midea is very effective, and with a huge capacity that only requires emptying about once a week in my humid basement. But there's a design flaw with the filters, they are impossible to remove without tools. The online instruction video shows the filter sliding right out, but they need to be pried because the handles do not provide any grip. The simplest method is to use a wide metal putty knife as I've shown in the attached picture; it doesn't appear to cause any damage. Pry it open and then you can slide the filter out, but remember it comes out sideways (the filter itself is right where the holes in the side of the case are). Now that I've figured out how to remove the filters I don't have any complaints.If you select the max fill level the bucket is very heavy when full, so keep that in mind.
