Easy to reformat on Mac

Verified Purchase

No issues using Disk Utility on Mac to format (erase) the drive to:
- GUID / Mac OS Extended; or
- GUID / APFS.

There's no point posting the usual benchmarks because as per the AnandTech review—(writes) starting off at 820 MBps, before moving down to 450 MBps and then down to 180 MBps.

It's faster than the:
- SanDisk Extreme Portable External SSD
but slower than the:
- SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable External SSD (no throttling issues at all)

If you are regularly writing 250GB+ in one go, it's worth paying extra for the SanDisk Extreme PRO. Otherwise this drive is fine; it performs well under normal use.

Bottom line:
- in 2020, OK to buy if the price is right.
- in 2021 and beyond, look for something newer and better.

Extremely Portable
and sleek design
Cons;
Getting only half of the speed 470 MBs instead of adertised 900 MBs write speed and read speed 630Mbs instead of 950 MBs
i tried contacting the Lexar customer support tried every possible way nothing seems to be working

So this SSD is not the fastest USB 3.1 Gen 2 available right now

i would say save your money and wait for a better product

I think the price for this 1tb ssd beats the others. It’s about the size of the Samsung and the specs say it is heavier, but the weight is not noticeable. It’s also specked to be faster but I couldn’t confirm this as my Mac 12” does not support the higher speed. It logged the same speed as a wd ssd though. Looks quite good. The edges of the bevelled silver trip have a bit of a sharp edge to it however not enough to hurt. Overall I’m glad I got this for 11k and I hope with my next laptop I can get to higher speeds.

One more thing is that the reported short cables that come in the box is true, however they feel like real high quality and have a soft touch feel to them which provides a good grip. The short cables imo are good cause they just hang off your laptop and are close at hand rather then a long dangling cable.
