We had compared the picture quality to a couple of high end Optoma projectors which had higher brightness (lumens) and allowed daylight viewing but were bulky, noisy and also needed to be positioned close to the center of the projected screen as their keystone capabilities were very basic (not as versatile as 4 point keystone). The other thing EpiqVision mini has which is not available on any projector at this price range is its medium throw capability. This allows the projected image to be around 150-180 inches from 10-12ft away and that made the Optoma's projected screen look comparatively small. Epiqvision mini also has additional zoom capability that allows you to further increase the screen size and fits the description of home theater better than others. There are 5 preset picture options. Dynamic has the most brightness, Bright Cinema is which we use more often for evening and nighttime viewing. Other options include Vivid, Cinema and standard (I think).
This projector only has 1 HDMI, we are using chromecast with google TV so there isn't anything that we feel needs connected other than this. Similar devices such as roku would also work fine. We have been using netflix, prime, pluto tv, youtube, peacock etc. This projector is not as bright as the optoma 4000 lumens one but it is bright enough and works quite well with curtains pulled down during daytime and with dynamic picture setup. It also has a normal audio output jack that can be used with any speaker setup. There is also a notion of having to buy a white screen for projection. Although I purchased a screen, I am directly projecting onto our wall that is ivory in color. There is a color balancing that can be used to adjust the color based on screen/wall color. I would suggest trying that first before purchasing an additional screen because that seriously obstructs the range of throw of this equipment in my opinion.
One last thing. Saw someone complaining about the mount plate so was a bit skeptical. I ordered one from audio general website although they were out of stock but received it in 2 weeks. We are using the mount and a tripod to set the projector off center, next to our nightstand and the 4 point keystone works great. Very happy with the purchase and have been living the dream of a home theater experience to the fullest.
Pros:
Small, lightweight, easy to hookup in ceiling
Great picture quality. I project it directly to wall (as i dont want to reduce the projextion size) at about 120+ inch image size and it looks spectacular. No complaints.
Works perfectly ok with lights on. You can easily watch. However, lights off blows you away.
Cons;
Less connections, single Hdmi
Contrast may have been slightly better.
One thing that I didn't like is that since this is a digital zoom, is that if you mount the projector too far way from the screen and you resize the image, there is still a light area that extends beyond the image and that was distracting so I had to move my mount closer to the screen and re-install it. Now it is perfect. Need to patch some holes in my ceiling. Since I went from a bulb type projector to this laser projector, I was blown away by the image. Even though this is less lumens than my old projector, the image is by far more vibrant. The colors really pop. There is a lot of control that the user has over the image and the operator just needs to tweak them to their liking or use the presets. Looking foward to my movie nights again.

There's no nexflix cast from the phone which is weird but prime and YouTube work great. You can plug a Netflix capable device into the hdmi and use it that way but no phone cast.
I don't care about Netflix but make sure you know.

It performs very well even in bright room (we have a sky window that can't be obscured completely.
I had some issues with the audio out when connection to my speaker: issue was the audio cable - somehow the one I had with 3 rings worked with the previous projector but didn't produce anything other than a buzz with this one. I replace the audio cable with a 2 ringed jack and now it works just perfect.
Looking forward to enjoying it for a while!
It works for sources with HDMI outputs but my system is having a synce issue with non-HDMI sources (Wii, PS2, PS1). This is not a deal breaker for me.
The 2nd thing you must know is that the picture is good in a dark room. It is not a bright projector at 1000Lumens.
The 3rd thing you must know is that this projector is for a short throw distance within 11ft or so. The manual adjustments could be tricky but Epson's corner adjustment makes it a bit easier than other system..
I only have the unit for 2 weeks so I could not comment on the longevity of the product. I had it on for 3hours+ and it fine. The power supply does get hot when you use it for that long.
You do not need any special plate to mount this onto the ceiling. I just used a generic projector mount that I bought here in Amazon for $26. Any of the mount with the adjustable legs should do.
I have tested the unit with PS3, WIIU, PS2, Wii, Bluray and Fire Stick Prime video streaming (all sources connected to an AVR)...the result are good. Essentially a good upgrade for the price point...
Update: after a few months of use I get some random blinking orange light. Google it and it says that the unit has a temperature issue or laser issue...contact Epson. Not so good now. The projector will still work after shutting down.

The product itself, in its brand new form is a excellent product. Great product from Epson but caution it cloud be a refurbished product. Look to an original Epson box with all required padding.
