It's been about 6 weeks and I have printed about 30 items. Some took up to 14 hours, but most have been in the 3 to 5 hour range.
I confirmed that I have the 4.2.2 motherboard.
I made a couple of upgrades -- the bed springs are now stiffer, and I added a second Z-axis motor and rod. I could not get the CR Touch to work so that was returned.
I use Cura for slicing.
There is a very strong Ender 3 V2 community on Facebook, Discord, and Reddit, and tons of YouTube videos to guide you for performance upgrades.
I have made several upgrades to the firmware, including a free upgrade to the Jyers UI from Github.
I believe the print quality is comparable to other FFF printers using PLA. I have only printed PLA.
I originally gave this product 3 stars, but I am upgrading my rating to 4 stars because I have learned a lot about the industry -- and someone from Creality or Comgrow contacted me to offer their assistance.
So I stand by my original review and comments on the assembly and user manuals -- that is the #1 thing Creality should focus on improving. Also, they should throw some white rabbit candies in their box.
Original Review:
I just got the Creality Ender 3 V2 delivered about three days ago. It took me one full day to assemble and configure it, another day to print the Dog and the Cat files, and today I decided to install the Creality Dual Z-Axis option and the CR Touch Auto Leveling system.
I'm remembering my younger days when I used to enjoy building PC's from scratch and installing Windows 95. It was so much better than Windows 3.3. The feeling I get when interacting with this product is the same experience. If you don't enjoy figuring things out or researching obscure little bits of data from poor documentation then this product/hobby is not for you -- come back in 5-10 years.
If you expect to take it out of the box, connect it to your PC and start printing -- come back in 5-10 years.
If you like the challenge of learning new technologies, solving technical puzzles, and experimenting with alternatives -- this is definitely a good product for that experience.
(For example, I have just finished scouring all the documentation for a hint about the version of my motherboard. It now appears I need to open the case again and search for that information -- is it 4.2.2 or 4.2.7?). There are multiple stickers on the box -- product ID numbers, serial numbers, shipping addresses, but no indication of a key piece of data -- I have already updated the firmware three times in two days. I believe I have the 4.2.7 based on the word "silent" in the product description -- but what happens if I pick the wrong one? Will it print fine or go off the rails 8 hours into a print job? I guess I will find out.
(Another example: How do you load the filament? There is nothing in the documentation about that. Luckily I was able to search YouTube and found 3 videos on how to do it.)
Be aware that the assembly instructions are sparse, little mini brochures, and the diagrams are tiny. They have labeled most of the parts (screws come in little baggies that are labeled in both Chinese and English).
Also, be aware that the system only reads FAT32 format, so prepare to scour your home looking for an old 8GB or 16GB micro SD card, or plan to order one from Amazon -- alternatively, you can rely on the one that comes with the machine. (I like to have backup copies of things before I do firmware updates.) Micro SD cards larger that 32GB can not be formatted in FAT32.
Thank God for all the YouTube channels, Facebook User Groups, and search engines. They have truly made this possible. Creality needs to pay them for all the free support they are providing.
If I had had to rely solely on the Creality product documentation and the Creality website this product and all of the accessories would have been returned within the first two hours.
I will sum it up this way. I am excited to start a new hobby and learn new skills, but Creality needs to hire some technical writers and talk to some customers about the out of the box user experience.
I also ordered the "Ender 3 Springs, Creality Upgraded 4PCS Hot Bed Die Springs with 4PCS Aluminium Hand Twist Leveling Nut for Ender 3/3 Pro/3 V2, Ender 5/5 Pro/5 Plus, CR-10, CR10S/10S Pro, CR 20 3D Printer" kit. This replaces the springs that come with the Ender 3 printer and is a more sturdier spring (hot die spring) instead of the less sturdier spring that comes standard on this printer. It will keep your bed level after several prints.
Also, make sure that you check the belts for the X and Y axis after several prints. All you have to do is to tighten the knobs just a fraction of a turn, but make sure not to overtighten.
My friend printed me some additions, which we found on "Thingiverse.com", to add onto my printer which really helps, one is a pulley wheel that attaches to the side of the printer to help streamline the filament from the spooler to the extrueder so that it doesn't crimp when printing. Also, I have printed several items that I downloaded from THINGIVERSE.COM and all of them turned out great. I found out from my friend that using blue painters tape and the Elmer's Purple glue stick really helps the different filaments to stick to the surface. Put the blue painters tape down and then level your bed and once leveled, then use the purple glue stick on the painters tape and smooth with your finger. I also downloaded the slicer software "CURA" (the "slicer software") to create the "gcode" that this 3D printer uses to print your items that you download from "THINGIVERSE.com". There is a "slicer" program that comes with the printer on the SD Card and it looks just like "CURA" but Creality just added a few other things to make it look a little different. Either "slicer program" will work. I have also purchased about $200 worth of PLA (harder) and PETG (softer) filaments. Should not be running out of that anytime soon. Overall, Creality does make a great printer and so far, I have not had any issues to be really concerned about. Overall, I give this printer a 5 out of 5 stars. Just do your research on what you and your friends are likely to use. I am very pleased and recommend this printer to everyone. Those people that are giving this device bad reviews are ones that have no idea on what they are doing and have not done the reasearch in order to make this thing enjoyable. You just can not setup this printer and expect it to automatically print. There is some work involved and once you do the research and learn from those that have gone thru these situations, i guarantee that this device will be the next fun thing that you will ever own and have fun using day-in and day-out. I am glad i had the expertise from my friend or I might be giving some critical reviews also. Do your homework. I think this is the future toy that everyone will have in their household. Happy 3D printing!

I have had this printer for almost 3 months now, and i can say that I have had no really big problems with this 3D printer from Ender. Yes, there is a few twikking that needs to be done from time-to-time, but if you have the patience, this thing can really be fun for you and the family. Once again, the biggest thing is getting the bed level but usually you don't have to worry with that until after 8-10 prints. Again, i use the Blue Painter's tape for the filament to adhere to and i also used the Purple Glue Sticker. For smaller and more detailed prints, using these 2 things can make for removing your print a little difficult. I use a little rubbing alcohol and it will come loose. For finer prints where things are more detailed, you might also want to slow the speed of the print from 100% to about 50-70%. I have printed some pedals or flowers for the hummingbird feeder that i made and the print speed needed to be adjusted and really did a fine job. Using the faster speed (100%), the detailed flowers were messed up. I would still recommend this to everyone. I enjoy my Ender 3D printer everytime i print something. Good luck.

Have noticed it doesn't seem to save the setting on the printer it's self. As soon as you start a print from the SD card and set it up to whatever temp and speed setting you want once the filament reaches it's temp it goes back to default and you have to set the temp and speed again, but that may be something I'm doing wrong. Also tested it from a USB wire direct from a PC and worked great as well.
When using a slicer the settings on the printer get overridden to whatever the settings the slicer were set to. Again I think this is something thats normal as I'm still learning, but still wanted to mention it just incase.

Levelling the bed is bad, because the springs are bad. There are lots of spring upgrade kits available and enthusiasts and youtubers will recommend you buy these when you buy the printer - because it has been engineered wrong, and the setup it comes with is not good. It is bad. You will need to level the bed every print. What's that, you levelled the bed, then touched the bed with your hand whilst setting up the print? You need to level the bed again. The actual glass panel that came on the bed isn't even flat, tbh I'm not even sure how they managed to do that, to make a wobbly piece of glass, but they did, kudos, and it means that even if you level the bed, it's not ever going to be actually level. Great stuff.
Let me make this super clear, I have learnt a lot about 3d printing from trying to get this piece of trash working, and along the way I've made some great prints. But I would estimate that even now, after months of effort and learning, maybe 20% of prints are useable. TBH it's probably closer to 10%. I've added the self-leveling CR kit, updated the firmware, followed loads of tutorials and youtube videos explaining how to get the best out of it... and unfortunately I have come to the conclusion that it's just not good enough.
I came over to it this afternoon after trying to print something and found that all four of the levelling screw things had just completely fallen off the printer. I honestly can't even imagine HOW that could happen.
It's just unbearable. I'd love to suggest that I've got a duff model, but I've spent so long on forums and stuff that it's pretty clear that this is just what this machine is like. Maybe you are like a lot of these 5* reviewers and you can turn a blind eye to these insane vagueries and inconsistencies, and maybe even be proud and happy that you got to sometimes resolve them. If, however, you want to spend your time actually PRINTING stuff rather than messing around with the printer getting it to work, then this is NOT the one. Even things like, the contact form on Creality's website just... doesn't work. The messenger system never connects. You can click on a link that takes you to their community forum... except that it doesn't. It is a grand overcomplement to say this product is half baked DO NOT BUY IT
