I am one of those "read the instructions ONLY if the result doesn't work" kinda people. That attitude works out for me about 98% of the time, but not this time. This player comes almost fully assembled, but you need to pull the needle protector off (no surprises here) and put the metal "table" and pad on (no problem here). You also have to "install" the turntable drive belt. Don't worry it isn't complicated at all - but this is where the forehead slapping came in for me.
There are TWO little cutouts below where the metal table rides. One is close to the needle arm and one is on the upper left area of the base. They both have a little drive wheel you can easily see inside. I (wrongfully) assumed the drive wheel by the needle was the one to install the belt on. (I actually didn't even notice the cutout on the upper left until after troubleshooting.) Put the belt in place, put the metal table disc and pad in place, put a record on, pulled the needle protector sleeve off, punched the "Start" button and - nothing - absolutely nothing. It was late on a Friday, after Tech Support was closed. So - I rummaged around on their support site and found out I am not the only moron who installed the drive belt incorrectly. The correct drive wheel is the one in the cutout on the upper left of the base.
After removing the drive belt from the wrong wheel and putting it on the correct one, everything worked like a charm. This turntable is awesome - and I hate to call it a "beginner" turntable because if you're not an aficionado, this thing ain't cheap. Yes, we did purchase this to see just how much we used a turntable before jumping into the truly expensive pool - but this one is plenty good enough if you have the right speakers.
Have't had a bit of problem with the bluetooth, but I think the player has felt a little sorry for me after embarrassing me with the belt fiasco.

Great bang for the buck!

After reading reviews on many turntables that offer Bluetooth connectivity, I pulled the trigger on this one. So far, I have not been disappointed at all. Taking everything out of the box and setting it up was quite easy. I did replace the turntable mat with an acrylic one. I have connected it to my surround sound system (wired) and it plays beautifully. I have also connected it via Bluetooth to a pair of headphones as well as a portable speaker. The connection takes a few seconds to happen, but once connected it early paired with the last device. The sound through both wireless devices sounded good as well. I'm no audiophile, but I know good sound when I hear it. It works flawlessly so far, press "Start" and the arm automatically lifts and drops the needle into place. Once the last track had played, the arm lifts and returns to it's rest. Changing speeds was no issue either. I've only had it for a few weeks, so I can't speak on the durability of it, but I do hope it will allow me to enjoy my dad's old records for years to come. All in all, this unit is a very nice bang for your buck. If you're expecting high end, this is not the unit for you. This is really for the average listener, or someone that is cutting their teeth in the world of vinyl. Solid functionality, ease of setup, wired/wireless playback options and it actually looks more expensive than it really is.
