I decided that I wanted to move the XP machine to another location in the house, but didn't want to have to run ethernet cable to that location, so I started looking for a Wifi card cable of interfacing properly with modern Wifi networks (Wireless AC mode) which would run under WinXP.
This card came to the top of my list pretty quickly. And yes, it does seem to be the best option if you're running an older OS (XP in particular) and want Wifi access. I realize, this is a fairly rare requirement, but if you do have this as a requirement... this is your best bet.
That said... it has an issue. This is a DRIVER issue, not a hardware one, mind you, but an issue nevertheless.
I've discovered that I need to "reset my wifi" almost every time I cold-boot the system. Because, initially, the drive and OS don't communicate, and I have no wifi connection. I have to let the system fully boot up, and then, "repair" the network connection. Once this is done, the networking works beautifully... full AC1300 speeds, no errors, etc, etc. But that initial negotiation seems to be "problematic." This is a problem, and I really wish that there was some chance of this being fixed... but it's an old product, supporting an old OS, and thus this is just something I have to live with.
It's not a HUGE problem... an annoyance, more than anything else. But you'll see this mentioned in quite a few reviews of this card. It's easily dealt with, but it shouldn't be an issue at all. If you pick this card up, you need to bear this in mind. I had an option... settling for the much slower "Wireless N" (there are a lot of "N" cards out there with XP support) or getting the higher throughputs but having to deal with the "bug." I chose the latter. You may prefer a less painful experience and be willing to accept slower speeds.
I have had good experience with TPLink devices in the past... repeaters, switches, etc... and this is the first one I've ever had ANY issues with. I attribute the issue to them having insufficient resources to develop support for this "obsolete" operating system... and give them a lot of credit for providing Wireless AC support for XP in the first place! Almost no one else even bothered.
If you have XP (for any reason... and yes, there are legitimate reasons to run older OSes, regardless of what anyone might try to tell you)... and want fast wireless data transfers... this is your best... maybe ONLY... real option.
Instead i recommend you download and install the Broadcom BCM4352 WiFi Driver. It's what I'm currently using and it's been perfect since. So you really do have to go through some loops to make this work correctly but when it does it will be the best wifi purchase you could make.
After days and days of troubleshooting, I found out what happened. The drivers up until recently worked out of the box (automatically via Windows 10 Pro install). But, I also have Driver Booster 7 Pro. Apparently it felt compelled to update my network driver last week and the update screwed everything up. So, after finally eradicating all remnants of that ridiculous driver, I was able to install the tp-link drivers from the website specifically for this card. I did not use the Broadcom drivers (none of those sites were https:// and I don't roll with that non-secure nonsense). Windows 10 did NOTHING in terms of automatic updating. And when you choose install driver manually, and choose the tp-link folder, it says it's default drivers are better. Wrong! So, unzip the tp-link driver folder, open tp-link > archer t6e_v1_151105 and run the setup.exe file you see there. DO NOT run this with the older drivers installed. Uninstall the drivers, then uninstall the device. As soon as it shows in Device Manager as visible, but not installed, run the driver install. It will work flawlessly after that.
I don't know what happened, but until a few days ago this device simply worked. Period. I have had nothing but high praise for this product. I use it in both Windows 10 Pro and Fedora (27+; can't vouch for builds prior to 27). I use Windows specifically for gaming, but I spend almost all of my time in Fedora as it is my primary OS.
Note: be sure once installed, if you use Driver Booster Pro, run a scan and it will tell you a new driver is available for the Archer card. To the right of this new driver is a drop-down menu, choose "IGNORE ALL UPDATES FOR THIS DRIVER" and accept the change. It will never ask to update your driver again, and this is a good thing. The tp-link driver works fine. I now have zero issues with the device (although it used to work out of the box automatically) in Win1010 (yes, it's a play on Rin Ten Ten; that dog was amazing in the 50s). Now it seems until I do a fresh install of Windows that this tp-link driver is the only answer. Holy, this is a lot of text. Hope it helped, really happy that it is resolved, because the past few days have been very unproductive.

I don't know what happened, but for the past few days I have been unable to get this to work with Windows 10 at all. It is recognized in Device Manager and everything. The drivers on their website do not work. I am unable to utilize this device on Windows 10 effective 30 Oct 2019.
On a side note, it works in Fedora [Linux] 30/31 just fine. As long as you run this command in terminal while connected to wifi on another device (I tether to my Samsung Galaxy via USB); and be sure you install RPM Fusion Free and Non-free repositories first):
sudo dnf install broadcom-wl akmod-wl
Done. Works flawlessly. I have had this device for over a year with nothing but high praise for it. Now I cannot get it to work in Win1010 at all. This is unacceptable. I need this resolved... stat!

So now I have this device. I get an 800Mbs+ connection (802.11ac) that works 100% reliably, without cables or dongles. Job done, harmony restored.
I first downloaded the driver (driver) from the TP-Link site because I do not have a CD / DVD drive on my PC, but there is a mini CD in the box for the driver I also downloaded TP-link Utility.
I opened the box, unpacked the network card and put it in my PC. The card was detected immediately. I then installed the driver. No problem encountered.
I then installed the utility and with that (and obviously you need your password Wifi), 15 seconds and I was browsing the web.
So, everything was very easy to install and the speed seems very good.
I recommend this network card!
