Can you adjust the alarm settings or totally disable the alarm?
Yes, UPS's that are connected to computers can have their sensitivity settings adjusted in the PowerChute software; also you can specify what hours you want to disable the alarm, if desired. The alarm 'mode' can be set via the power button.
Does BE600M1 have a replaceable battery?
When it's time to refresh the battery, APC offers a User-replaceable battery for model BE600M1 under part # APCRBC154 (sold separately). Depending on usage, a UPS battery typically lasts for 3-5 years before needing to be replaced.
How do you turn off the alarm?
You can temporarily mute some alarms with a 1-2 second press of the Power button, which mutes an alarm until the condition that caused the alarm is reset. Critical events (i.e. Battery replacement) require unit to be turned off.
How long will this UPS power my system when the power goes out?
The runtime of any UPS will vary based on the amount of power required by your the devices plugged into the battery backup outlets. In the PowerChute Software, you can see 'Estimated Battery Time' based on the power-draw of your connected devices.
Can I plug a printer into a UPS?
Due to the large amount of power used by printers, APC does not recommend connecting them to a UPS below 1500VA. If printers are connected, it may cause the UPS to transfer to battery repeatedly, exhausting the battery unnecessarily.

What I initially found when I got this UPS is it was very light. I was expecting it to have more wait to it. I was also expecting it to be larger as well.
When I got it out of the box! I initially hunted down the battery compartment being I figured I would need to connect the battery. The only issue I had was getting the battery back in after connecting the wire that wasn't connected to the battery to start with. Normally this is the HOT wire. I then flipped the UPS rightside up! Found the button to turn it on/off. Found the button is an electronic button. So when you press it, you can't really tell the UPS is on or off if you can't see. Found you need to press the button a few seconds to turn off the UPS wants it is on.
Their are 2 mounting wholes on the back of the UPS if you want to hang it up on a wall or something.
Next tried finding the 7 outlets! I found three off the bat! Couldn't find the other 4. I knew 4 are battery backup. After all, I'm totally blind. Started wondering if they sent me the wrong UPS.
Placed my finger down on top of the UPS and applied a little pressure and started sliding it in a straight line from the 3 outlets towards the other side. Then noticed some spots my finger went down a little on the area whare the ground plug was. So tried the same test whare the normal 110 plugs are and noticed the same things. Come to find out! Their is a strip of tape covering the battery backup PLUGS. So the plugs are on top of the unit along the back edge of it. The power button is also on top of the unit near the left side. If you use your finger nail starting at the left edge! You can then lift up the tape and pull it off. The outside two plugs are close together, then the 3rd plug has a gap and the very center plug has even a wider gap. This is true regardless of what side of the UPS you start from. The Left most plugs are the battery backup ones all the way to the very center one.
This UPS uses a standard USB 2.0 B connector to be able to plug it into your computer if you decide to do that. The UPS comes with an USB A Male to USB B Male cable. Unlike some of the higher end models that come with an USB 2.0 A to RJ45 connector. No issue! Just something to be aware of.
As for the ups, my recommendation after connecting the battery is to do a couple hours of its initial charge in a well ventilated space! You will smell that chemically, battery smell after a few minutes of plugging it in!!! Not severe but noticeable!
As for the ups itself? It’s as basic as it comes! It does have user preferences available via pc connection or threw the “ guess the color of the light power button game!” Both a simple, and almost user friendly concept! Not to hard, not to geeky but just enough to really *iss you off when you realize you have to start from the beginning again!
Other than that initial tests prove road worthy and I’m sure I’ll be getting extensive use out of this over the years!
Now for usage, I bought this for 1 main reason! To power my fiber optic modem wich I figure it will do for a week + as it’s super low voltage and my led tv in cases of emergency! My tv runs at 40 watts so I’m figuring I might get 3 to 4 hours of usage via this ups! ( that’s my best guestament at this point in time! Might only be an hour?
Either way so far it has done what it says it will do…..
Oh and did I mention it has a user replaceable battery?

Oh and did I mention it has a user replaceable battery?
I Installed my APC less than a month ago, and it has already paid off. I work from home, call center work, and I cannot afford to be hanging up on customers. It is also the dead of summer, everyone is trying to stay cool, and our Oklahoma grid is not the most reliable and overloaded. Less than 3 weeks after purchase... the power went out for about 10 seconds... I was talking to a customer, and I had indigestion, but the call did not drop, I was able to conduct proper business on battery power. I'm so happy I bought these things, and I'm 100% certain they actually work.
Install was easy FYI took me about 30 minutes per device. After they are charged up remember to test them, turn everything on and unplug it and make sure it all works.
I should get about 5-10 minutes of backup for my computer which is at least enough time to tell a customer what's going on politely, and possibly make some notes for the next person, and if the power outage is short like mine was, you might not miss anything at all.
Do NOT forget to make sure your router is on an APC! I would have been a sad panda if I had power for my computer and the internet dropped.
Thank you APC

I purposely bought a mid-tier unit capable of handling my power needs (a single gaming PC and single monitor). However this 330w unit has issues when I push the graphics card close to 300watts...an alarm tone starts blaring and won't stop. Its loud and annoying!
I've tried running it with only PC and no monitor (which makes it hard to shut down the pc in a power failure).
Apparently the unit switches to battery load when its not needed...why?
I've contacted support twice through email and twice on live chat. Responses are extremely slow.
I've asked if there is any way to turn off the alarm...I get no answer. I've asked for any solutions...but get none.
Only answer I get (if I push the issue) is "buy a more powerful unit".
If you complain, you get ignored.
I can't return this unit because I have to ship by special method and at my expense. Not worth it.
So I have a $100 paperweight unless I want to use it as a phone charger.
Be warned...even the related software for this unit will not disable the persistent and annoying alarms!
The battery is user replaceable if it degrades over time... you can buy a replacement here on Amazon!
I would definitely recommend this. Excellent, reliable, inexpensive UPS.
It's too bad because otherwise it seems to work well. I had planned to use it to backup my Internet components (router, hub), as well as a couple of NAS devices.
There also seemed to be some confusion about this product's capabilities. The BE600M1 is a light UPS at 330 Watt (W), which is a peak load. At the full 330W it would only last about 3 minutes. You should typically plan for 1/2 the peak capacity, so 165W in this case, which would last 10-12 minutes. At a low of about 40W this device would last over an hour.
So it could probably handle many notebooks, or a variety of small devices. For example my ReadyNAS uses 54W, and my Synology uses about 31W, so with other Internet devices, I wasn't going to exceed the 165W, and should have had enough time to react.
The unit said that it was working properly but it was far from that! :(
I would not recommend this to anyone at all! DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP IT MALFUNCTIONS FIRST TIME ALL THE WAY!
I tried to RMA this unit 4 times and the units all died the same death and just screwed things up royally for me!
APC fixed this by ordering me a completely different model number and it's much more powerful than this one.
That one worked fine I am happy with the results; NO MORE PROBLEMS!
it's a 650VA 390Watt unit and if you want quality and reliability use that one instead of this one which was horrible!
Hope you don't have a relapse of the crap I went thru with this junk.
Thanks for reading this review and use the advice to your best when selecting a product to keep your PC running in a power failure!
